At the Bahamas: Multi Colored Recycled Sari Silk Ribbon Yarn

Sari silk ribbon is the textile used to make the traditional sari (or sarees) worn throughout the Indian subcontinent. These garments have been developed over thousands of years, and not only is sari silk recognised as some of the highest quality in the world; the garments themselves are intricate, stunning pieces with designs and devices that reflect a superb level of craftsmanship.

Although we carry complete sari garments in and of themselves, our pride and joy remains our sari silk ribbon and yarn products. Recycled sari silk ribbon not only captures all the skill, love and care of quality craft; it allows us to protect the environment while making beautiful clothes and supporting women’s economic independence. It’s also, importantly, enormously fun to work with and wear!

While sari silk ribbon is one of our key offerings, we also stock a huge selection of other interesting fabrics and craft products. Darn Good Yarn works with suppliers like women’s collectives in Nepal and India, and farmers groups in the Chilean Andes; our preferred suppliers follow fair trade practices and sustainable consumerism principles. We encourage you to have a look through our store, find something to fall in love with, and get knitting!

Remember: you need just one skein to make the 45 min scarf! Check out the pattern here!
